Moving water course/grade 2 certification: 2 days
- The course is done in your
multi-sports racing boat, on the Clutha River, grade 1 and 2
- Our
objective is for everyone to master all the basic maneuvers of moving
water, as well as self-rescue, river reading and racing lines
anticipation
- . During the course,
questions will be answered on the basics of training programs, injury
prevention, equipment and nutrition. Minimum 2 and Maximum 3 people to
optimise personalised attention
Pre requisites
- Being comfortable paddling
on a lake in your multisports boat for 1hour
- Being able to rail your boat
on both sides for 15 seconds, steady (ask us for practice drills prior
to the course)
- Having tipped out on flat
water and swam to shore with gear
Day1 Saturday
- 10am, meet at the Camp
ground Outlet of lake Wanaka (via own transport)
- 1h Safety talk, theory on
moving water maneuvers, and grade 2 self rescue techniques
- 1h paddle technique, and
first steps in ferry gliding, breaking in and out of mainstream and
eddies
- Lunch break on the river
- 2 to 3 hours of practice on
ferrying, breaking in and out of eddies and mainstream in grade 2
environment. Finish at the Luggate "Red Bridge"
Day2 Sunday
- 10am, meet upstream of Alberttown Bridge
- Further practice on breaking
in and out of mainstream and eddies and river reading
- Self rescue in moving water
- Lunch on the river
- Certification by
successfully performing moving water maneuvers and running grade 2
rapids
- Finish at devil's elbow (or
Maori Point on demand) between 3.30 and 4.30pm
Added Value
At the beginning of the course
we take a video of your paddle stroke and then send you an email with a
graphic "siliconcoach" analysis. Siliconcoach is a software program
allowing to draw lies angles arrows etc, to help visualise

Our 6 session "starter pack":
- One hour flat water coaching
session per week and ongoing advice for your own sessions in between
- Objectives:
- To teach you all the basics
of flat water and moving water paddling and optimum multisports paddle
technique efficiency
- To provide you tools to
continue monitoring your own progression
Cost: $360: (10%
discount to multisports club members ) or package any number of flat water
coaching sessions @ $60 with your Grade 2 course @$360

Our 2hour technical checkup:
- 1hour on the water to apply specific drills and help you move to the
next level or get rid of undesired habits
- In the 2nd hour we do a video take and a thorough video analysis. We
then give you a program of drills to address what we have observed
